- “Ordeal by Fire” was an attempt to prove the innocent or worthy
- People were put under extreme conditions and if they emerged unscathed or healed directly after it was a sign the gods or God stepped in an interfered with the ordeal
- To those judging this would prove the subject was purified or worthy.
